Belvedere City Council voted Jan. 16 to appoint two council liaisons to work with Tiburon and staff on updating long-standing facility-use and funding agreements with the Belvedere-Tiburon Joint Recreation Committee (the Ranch).
City staff told the council the Ranch has modernized programs and accumulated reserves, and the underlying agreements governing use of city facilities and municipal support have not been updated in many years. The staff report recommended a joint review with Tiburon and Ranch staff; the goal is to bring updated agreements back to both councils by mid-2025.
Council member Sally Wilkinson and Council member Kevin Burke were appointed as the two Belvedere liaisons and will work with staff and Tiburon's town manager and council representatives. The council requested an interim report to allow early input from all council members rather than presenting a single, final draft as a fait accompli.
City Manager (name not specified) said the Ranch had run deficits in the past but now maintains a surplus and a robust reserve, making this an appropriate time to revisit terms covering facility use, subsidies and financing.
The motion to appoint Council members Wilkinson and Burke passed on a unanimous voice vote.
Staff will coordinate with Tiburon and Ranch representatives to set a timeline and to draft proposed contract language for council review.
