Hamilton County commissioners on April 3 issued a proclamation recognizing Winton Woods High School’s girls basketball team for winning the 2025 Ohio state championship and declared April 3, 2025, “Winton Woods High School Women's Basketball State Champions Day” in the county.
The proclamation, introduced at the start of the meeting by Commissioner Stephanie Summer O'Dumas and read by Commissioner Alicia Reese, praised the team for a perfect season and a 70–55 victory over Anthony Wayne in the state final. “Through tireless dedication and unwavering teamwork, these phenomenal student athletes dominated the Eastern Cincinnati Conference,” the proclamation says.
Superintendent Steve Penny, principal Eric Martin and head coach Carlton Gray joined players at the podium. Principal Eric Martin said Winton Woods serves about 1,300 students and called the team’s accomplishment “a special feeling.” Coach Carlton Gray thanked county leaders and praised the players’ work from April of the prior year through the season’s end.
