The Decatur County Area Planning Commission approved a rezoning request for approximately 2.74 acres north of 4954 South County Road 700 West in Clay Township, allowing the property to change from A-1 agricultural zoning to A-2 rural residential zoning to accommodate a single-family dwelling.
Applicant Gene Hastings appeared and told the commission he planned to build a house on the parcel where he formerly lived. Staff described the parcel as owned by the Hastings Family LLC and said the request falls under Decatur County ordinance sections 9-15 and 9-20-7.
Commissioners moved and seconded the petition 2025-8. After a roll-call-style voice tally that included named affirmations, the commission carried the motion. Staff instructed the applicant to remain in contact with the county office through the building process.
The commission closed the item and the applicant left the podium.
