City launches downtown master-plan update; zoning board member resigns

City development staff told the Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday that the City of West Palm Beach has selected Ziskovich Architects to update the downtown master plan for the first time in 18 years and will begin a yearlong public outreach process.
Rick Green, the city's development services director, said the consultant was selected after a bidding process and that public engagement will begin immediately. Green announced two public events: a mobility and transportation discussion on April 30 (5 p.m., Flagler Gallery) and a public-realm discussion on May 22. He said the consultant will meet with developers, neighborhoods and other stakeholders, with a draft expected in the fall and final recommendations to follow the city's review process.
Also under other business, the board heard that Christopher Crane has resigned from the Zoning Board of Appeals. The chair announced the board will elect a vice chair at its next meeting in May.
