Development Services Director Jose Gomez updated the commission April 2 on staffing changes and upcoming work on the land development code.
Gomez said Joy Giles has been promoted to division manager for planning and development and will be taking a new seat; he also announced Vladimir Simonovsky has left for a position with the city of Apopka. Gomez said a new deputy development services director, Dagmarie Segarra, is slated to start April 14; Gomez described Segarra's prior experience in local government and said she is a Seminole County resident.
Gomez told commissioners the department has conducted a series of work sessions with the Board of County Commissioners on items in the land development code and that staff will brief the Planning and Zoning Commission on those updates in the coming months. No formal action was taken on staffing or code changes during the meeting.
