The council closed a continued public hearing April 3 on a petition from National Grid and Verizon to install a jointly owned utility pole on Park Hill Road, after National Grid reported revised plans and successful on-site meetings with abutters.
Ken Kriegel, a National Grid representative, told the council that the company met with affected homeowners and councilor LaBarge on-site and identified a revised pole location approximately 265 feet west of the Whittier Street centerline, which National Grid said made the pole less visually intrusive and addressed neighbors’ view concerns. Several residents, including Colleen George and a neighbor who identified herself in public comment, expressed appreciation for the company’s responsiveness.
Councilor LaBarge commended Verizon and National Grid for working with the three impacted households and said the group spent substantial time resolving mail-back and sight-line concerns. With no additional public testimony, the council voted to close the public hearing and to include the item on the consent agenda for final approval.
Ending The item will appear on the council’s consent agenda for formal approval and documentation; councilors said they would follow up if any abutter issues persisted when the final paperwork is filed.
