Applicant Billy Farmer described six years of beekeeping experience, said he mentors beginner beekeepers through the Walton County Bee Club and partners with University of Georgia Extension staff for training. Farmer said he raises queens, maintains colonies (he stated he currently maintains ten colonies), produces honey for sale and would host mentoring at his apiary.
There was no opposition at the hearing. A commissioner moved to approve the rezoning as submitted; the motion carried. The commission will forward the item to the Board of Commissioners next month for final action.
