The Enterprise City Council authorized two memoranda of understanding to expand the police department's investigative and crisis‑response tools.
The first MOU gives the Enterprise Police Department access to the Transaction Record Analysis Center (TRAC), a data analysis resource the chief described as a tool investigators can use to trace criminal financial transactions. “This gives our investigators the ability to look into those type of crimes, and possibly, solve them. It is free of charge. It's just something we have to sign to give us access after the training,” the police chief said during the meeting.
The council also authorized a memorandum with South Central Alabama Mental Health Board to outline mutual assistance and support when officers encounter people experiencing a mental health crisis. The chief described the agreement as a resource to help get people “the medical need that they need or a bed or someplace safe that they can go.”
Both MOUs were presented as administrative agreements to expand the department's capacity; councilmembers approved the authorizations without extended debate.
Staff said TRAC access requires training and that the mental‑health MOU is intended to improve on‑scene options and coordination between law enforcement and local behavioral‑health providers.
