Representative Carol Dolby presented House Bill 1895, which allows a corporation or voluntary association to employ in‑house attorneys to represent affiliates of the corporation or association. Dolby said the bill is narrow and “simply allows” entities to have in‑house counsel to represent affiliates and that she would take any questions.
No members of the public signed up to speak for or against the bill, and the committee took the bill up for a vote. The committee passed the bill by voice vote without recorded opposition.
Representative Dolby closed for the bill and moved for a favorable committee recommendation; the motion carried and the bill will proceed to the next stage of consideration.
