Lake County supervisors on April 1 approved three construction contracts with Weeks Drilling and Pump Company to drill test wells for county service-area water systems.
The board authorized: (a) a $151,500 contract for a test well at Spring Valley (CSA 2, Pueblo Trail); (b) a $177,500 contract for a test well at North Lakeport CSA 21 (Crystal Lakeway); and (c) a $177,500 contract for a test well at North Lakeport CSA 21 (Worley Drive). All three awards followed an informal competitive process; Weeks Drilling submitted the lowest bids on each project. The work is fully grant-funded, county officials said.
Special districts administrator Robin Borre told supervisors the team plans to start drilling the Spring Valley test well first because that grant funding has an earlier expiration. If the county does not complete property acquisition for Crystal Lakeway in time, staff said they will propose an alternative well location at the county water plant and return with an amendment. If a test well yields sufficient water, staff will move to a separate, competitive process to retrofit and commission a full production well. The board approved all three contracts 5-0 and authorized the special districts administrator to sign.
