Commissioner Economos led discussion and nominations for appointments to the Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) advisory committees and proposed rotation to allow multiple residents to serve.
Economos said he had interviewed applicants and recommended staggered terms with alternates so more residents could participate. "I would propose...6 month terms" he said, urging broad participation and noting that members must be City of Daytona Beach Shores residents.
The commission appointed Karen Bullard as primary to the TPO Citizens Advisory Committee with Vince Donvito as first alternate and Carol Sutherland as a second alternate. The commission appointed Carrie Fields as primary to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee with Maggie McCallop as the first alternate. Commissioners clarified that alternates may attend and participate but vote only in the absence of the primary representative, per TPO rules.
Motions to appoint the named residents passed on roll-call votes, 4-0. Commissioners discussed whether to rotate every six months or longer; the majority favored six-month rotations to offer more residents an opportunity to serve while allowing alternates to observe meetings and participate when needed.
