Frank Worth took the oath of office as Alamosa’s new fire chief at the council meeting, marking the start of his tenure after 42 years' experience in volunteer and career fire departments.
City and council remarks noted Worth’s prior roles, including Fire Captain for Lower Allen Township Department of Public Safety, deputy team leader for a Type‑4 incident management team and instructor experience at Harrisburg Area Community College. The city said Worth’s first day was the previous Monday and commissioners emphasized continuity: training for volunteers, water‑rescue improvements and continued partnerships with local education providers were listed as early priorities.
Chief Worth said he was “humbled and honored to serve the citizens of the City of Alamosa and also the county,” and thanked department members for their support. Councilors and staff thanked outgoing Chief Stone for his service and welcomed new members of the department, including Fire Explorer program participants and additional volunteers.
Councilors offered personal welcomes from the dais and reiterated support for training and community outreach as the department’s focus going forward.
