Michael Farmer, chief schools, introduced Bob Marshall as the next principal of Gig Harbor High School at the April 1 board meeting.
Farmer described a multi-stage hiring process that included surveys and interviews with students, staff, parents and community members; three finalists were brought to a final interview day that included student tours and panels. Bob Marshall told the board he lives locally, has experience in school leadership, and will begin in the role full time on July 1, 2025 after concluding obligations under his current contract with North Kitsap. Marshall introduced family members in the audience and thanked the district and community for the selection.
The board and community members thanked outgoing principal Michelle Suter for five years of service and welcomed Marshall; no formal board vote was recorded during the meeting excerpt on the introduction (the chief of schools presented the hire as a concluded selection). Staff and board members described broad stakeholder participation in the search process and said onboarding plans and community introductions will follow.
