Redmond seeks consent to adopt 2025–2029 Commute Trip Reduction plan; state agencies have already approved update

City staff presented the City of Redmond’s four‑year Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) plan update for 2025–2029 at the Committee of the Whole on April 1 and requested placement on the April 15 consent agenda.
Director Carol Helland introduced Michael Hintz and Kim Keeling, who said the Puget Sound Regional Council and the Washington State Department of Transportation Commute Trip Reduction Board have reviewed and approved the plan update. Michael Hintz told council the plan will be in effect from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029, and that timely adoption is necessary for the city to comply with the state commute trip reduction law.
Councilmembers had no substantive questions during the committee item. The presiding officer noted performance targets in the plan and said the targets appear reasonable given new transportation infrastructure coming online. With no objections, the committee agreed to place the CTR plan update on the April 15 consent agenda for formal action.
