Keith Simpson, commissioner for Emergency Service District No. 3, updated the Elgin City Council on April 1 about progress toward an interlocal agreement and operational discussions with city officials.
Simpson said he has been working with Interim City Manager Turner and with the district’s attorney and the city attorney on the interlocal agreement. He reported separate meetings with the police chief and fire chief had gone “really well” and that he and district staff discussed operational issues with Acadian. He said meetings with Travis County are being planned to continue the work.
“Things are moving ahead. It may not be as quickly as some of us would like it to be, but we are moving ahead,” Simpson said, and offered his contact information for follow‑up questions.
The remarks were presented as an informational update in public comment; the transcript excerpt does not show the council taking formal action on the interlocal agreement during this meeting.
