Council approves replacement of wastewater plant control system, budgeted at $411,000

Oxford City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement with Ralden Myers Inc. to replace the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) computer control system at the wastewater treatment plant for a total cost not to exceed $403,441.50.
Staff told council the city had budgeted $411,000 for the project and that the existing automation system dates from the late 1990s and has reached the end of its useful life. Public-works staff said they received only one bid — consistent with expectations because of the specialized work — and recommended Ralden (Rod) Myers, citing the firm’s decades of work at the plant and at the water plant. “They’re extraordinarily qualified and have the knowledge of plant process control to work seamlessly with our staff,” staff said.
A councilor noted the importance of proactive maintenance for wastewater systems and thanked staff for the recommendation. The resolution was adopted by voice vote.
