Jackson County commissioners voted to authorize the chairman to sign a letter to the Executive Office of the Governor affirming the county is not experiencing financial distress, after staff drafted responses to five questions included in the governor’s request.
County Administrator Miss Murdock told the board the requested letter, included on page 12 of the meeting packet, addresses five items the governor’s office asked the county to confirm and that staff recommended answering “no” to all five. "The answer to all 5 of those questions is no," Murdock said.
Commissioner Cressfield made the motion to approve the letter; Commissioner Branch seconded. The board approved the motion by a voice vote.
The administrator said staff and county counsel have reviewed the letter; commissioners directed the chairman to sign and submit it before the stated deadline. The vote was procedural and did not change county spending or debt obligations.
