The Galt City Council approved its consent calendar and adopted an amendment to event-insurance authority during the meeting; the council did not vote to change Section K (boats/RVs/trailers) and directed staff to return with options.
On a 4–0 roll call vote the council approved the consent calendar (items 1–5). Key items on that calendar included: receipt and filing of warrants for the period ending March 2025; minutes of the March 18, 2025 regular meeting; Amendment No. 1 to a consultant contract for a traffic study (original contract $70,000; the amendment adds $40,000 plus a $10,000 contingency to cover additional work; transcript notes the developer will reimburse the city for the amendment costs); and the annual general-plan and housing-element progress report for 2024.
Also on the consent calendar, the council adopted an ordinance adding section 2.50.005 to chapter 2.5 of the Galt Municipal Code to establish district collection, district boundaries and a schedule for an election (specific ordinance language and effective dates were in the staff report; transcript indicates the item passed as presented).
On the regular calendar, the council approved an ordinance amending section 9.38.120.A.1 to permit the joint powers authority (JPA) to set insurance coverage levels for special events rather than fixing a dollar amount in municipal code. The item was introduced and adopted on a 4–0 vote after staff clarified corrected language in the report.
No formal council vote was taken to change enforcement of Galt Municipal Code 8.20.110 (Section K) regarding boats, trailers or RV parking. Instead, the council asked staff to research options and return with recommendations.
