ECI committee backs digital science supplements and keeps Follett library system

The ECI Committee reviewed two curriculum‑related procurement recommendations and voted to refer both to the May action meeting.

Staff recommended two digital, standards‑aligned supplemental science platforms for kindergarten through grade 6: Generation Genius and Mystery Science (Discovery Education). The presenter described both as video‑driven, inquiry‑based supplements intended to "enhance science instruction in K through 6" and to align with state standards. The committee's presenter also described a separate RFP for a library management system and recommended continuing the district's current partnership with Follett, citing updated features, improved data migration and ADA compliance.

Committee members discussed teacher familiarity and professional development needs if the district switched library systems; staff noted continuing with Follett reduced training overhead because teachers already know the platform. The committee voted unanimously to move both RFP recommendations to the May action meeting.

No contract values were presented at the work session; staff said cost and contract details will be presented at the action meeting.
