Several residents used the April 1 public‑comment period to press the council on a long‑running parking problem on North Old Dixie Highway and to offer general praise for town actions.
Michael Culpepper of 101 Park Street urged the council to require enforcement and code compliance for businesses that lack adequate parking at 954 North Old Dixie Highway, a parcel he said is a nonconforming lot that has contributed to recurring on‑street parking that obstructs traffic. Culpepper asked the council to follow staff guidance from a June staff report and initiate code compliance under Town Code Section 20‑827 if property owners fail to provide required parking.
Wayne Posner of 315 Carina Drive spoke broadly: he praised the lighthouse stabilization project, recognized former and current council members and urged continued support for the town’s fire department decision. Posner also suggested councilor pay be revisited, saying in public comment that councilors have not had an increase in many years and that modest raises would help offset costs of service.
Mayor Kuretsky acknowledged the comments and told Culpepper the matter was "well known" to staff and would be monitored; staff later reiterated they would be mindful of future submissions.
