Jefferson County approves proclamation, contracts, tax refunds and a deputy hire at April 1 meeting

Jefferson County Commissioners Court on April 1 approved a proclamation recognizing an assault awareness month, awarded a facilities demolition contract, authorized multiple tax refunds, recorded a juvenile detention inspection, and approved the hiring of a deputy constable during a brief session at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

The court read and adopted a proclamation designating April 2025 as an assault awareness month and invited a guest from local services to the lectern. "I think it's just important to say that what we do in our community and how we treat people in our community is really the precipice of change," the guest said after the proclamation was read.

The court approved a job order contract with Preferred Facilities Group USA for demolition of tax office workstations totaling $16,838.93 under an existing BuyBoard contract and approved the disposition of broken or obsolete county property under the Local Government Code provision cited by staff.
