Michelle Davenport, ARDOT chief counsel, and Wiley said the department’s internal audit and inspector general processes now produce oversight that largely duplicates the statutory report.
Senators asked whether the department would continue routine internal reviews; ARDOT officials said they would continue audits and present internal audit findings to oversight committees. The bill’s sponsor presented the statutory change as a narrow reduction in external reporting burden for an audit that “no one looks at.” The committee approved the measure by voice vote.
