Richland County renews Corson contract for county fire‑system maintenance for one year

The Richland County Board of Commissioners voted April 3 to renew Corson’s maintenance contract for fire alarms, sprinkler systems, testing and related fire‑safety systems for one year under the contract’s renewal options.

Rachel Troyer, Central Services, told the commission, “We have had Corson for 2 years. The contract is a 2 con 2 year contract with 3 1 year renewal. So we have, done with the original term of the 2 years, and now I'm asking to renew this contract for 1 year.” Troyer said the work covers fire‑alarm panels, inspections, testing and sprinkler systems and specifically mentioned the county’s “bio panels.” She also said, “The pricing will not change this year.”

Troyer noted one park facility is not included under the current renewal. When asked whether the panel at Fleming Falls (the transcript also refers to it as “Flippin Falls”) is covered, she said the site is “not currently part of this contract” and that the county has Gorman Nature Center on the contract but does not have Fleming/Flippin Falls listed. Troyer said the park district would need to coordinate with Central Services to add that location.

Josh Hicks, the county maintenance superintendent, was present to answer technical questions, and Commissioner Tony Vero moved to approve the renewal; the motion was seconded and the commission recorded affirmative votes.

The one‑year renewal is being exercised under the contract’s existing renewal options; the commission recorded the motion as approved. The commission did not discuss a change in pricing for the renewed year and did not list any changes to the scope beyond noting Fleming/Flippin Falls is not currently covered.
