Board reconstitutes Bond Oversight Committee, names five at‑large members and schedules first meeting

The Clark County School District Board of Trustees approved a slate of at‑large appointments to the district’s Bond Oversight Committee by a unanimous 7-0 vote April 2.
Interim Superintendent Larson Mitchell and facilities staff told trustees the oversight panel had lacked sufficient membership and that staff recommended reappointing David Flatt and adding four at‑large members: Messalia Cord, David Filippo, Nikkia Jackson Hale and Margarita Gamboa Harris. Brandon McLaughlin, who manages the bond process for the district, described each nominee as meeting the bylaws’ areas of expertise.
“Mr. Flatt has been an active member of the committee and has contributed meaningfully,” McLaughlin said as he outlined why staff recommended reappointment and the four new at‑large members.

The board approved the appointments and confirmed the committee will meet April 22 at 11:30 a.m. to resume oversight work. Newly appointed at‑large member Nikkia Jackson Hale spoke briefly after the vote to thank trustees and to say she is ready to begin the work.
