Orange County Legislature approves 2025 election worker pay changes

The change updates pay for several election roles. According to the materials presented, the training-class assistant rate increases by $5 per class, from $25 to $30. The early-voting nightly bag transporter rate was reduced by $10 per event, from $40 to $30. Hourly pay for several office roles rises by $2.50 per hour, from $17.50 to $20: the absentee clerk and office assistant; a staff position described in the packet as a team/office worker also moves from $17.50 to $20 per hour.
Legislators indicated they had the schedule before them and offered no substantive questions prior to a voice vote. The board of elections representatives attending the meeting said they were available to answer questions and noted county commissioners could not attend because of village elections the previous day.
No individual vote tally was recorded in the transcript; the motion was approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
The revised schedule will apply to the positions needed for the 2025 election season as described in Legislative Request 73.
