Commission declares surplus property, approves vehicle replacements and pays indigent cremation cost

Beaver County commissioners approved several routine administrative items: the declaration of surplus for old county picture frames and other items, the declaration of three sheriff’s office vehicles as surplus as the department takes delivery of three replacement Durangos, and payment for an indigent cremation where no next of kin could be located.
Pressley Denton and other staff described the picture frames (old portrait frames that have been stored in county offices) and recommended surplus disposal. The sheriff’s office reported two Chevy Tahoes and one Ford F-150 would be declared surplus in trade for three Durangos; staff indicated the titles/MSOs are incoming and the vehicles will be turned over to the disposition process.
The county also received a request from the local mortuary regarding an indigent decedent (Jennifer Mayo / Jennifer Miller — transcript lists both surnames) for whom no next of kin had been identified. The mortuary requested assistance with cremation; the county agreed to cover the cremation cost (discussed in the meeting as $1,200) and retain the cremated remains per county practice or cemetery arrangement.
Motions to declare surplus and to approve the indigent cremation payment were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
