The commission reported out from closed session that it had voted to make a conditional offer of employment to a candidate for the executive director position. The action was taken during a lunch break closed session convened under Government Code provisions for personnel matters and litigation; commissioners said the conditional offer is contingent on satisfactory background and reference checks. The commission declined to identify the finalist until checks are complete and the candidate accepts.
Chair Alvarez thanked the search committee and the recruitment firm Exeter Group for their work. Commissioners who served on the search committee were named and publicly thanked for devoting time to interviews and deliberations. Staff said they will report back to the public when the background checks and acceptance are complete.
No formal personnel details were released in open session; the report-out was limited to the closed-session vote and next steps required by law.
