HAGERSTOWN, Md. — City staff presented a draft Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan on April 1 that identifies corridors and countermeasures intended to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries and to position Hagerstown for federal implementation funding.
Jim Bender summarized work with Washington County’s MPO and consultant teams, noting the city received a $160,000 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant to prepare the plan and that a new round of implementation funding recently opened. “The purpose of the plan is to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2050,” Bender said, noting the goal aligns with state and federal targets.
