The committee granted the Public Works Commission (PWC) easement requests enabling a PWC water project to connect Grace Creek Elementary and Alderman Road Elementary to public water rather than continued well use. Committee members said staff reviewed the attached easement documents and recommended approval. The motion was made by Greg West and seconded by Susan Williams and was approved by the committee.
The committee approved Crawford Design Company’s design proposal for Seventy‑First High School’s front entrance drive modification and additional parking. The design fee is $74,000; the construction estimate presented to the committee was about $900,000. Committee members said the plan will convert the existing drive to drive‑only along the sidewalk and add a circular drive toward Raiford Road, keeping a fire lane but eliminating parking along the sidewalk. Motion to approve the design proposal was made by Greg West, seconded by Susan Williams, and carried.
Carolina Construction of Fayetteville received committee approval to replace HVAC units and associated windows at Stedman Primary School under the lowest responsive bid of $931,249.
