Village staff seeks consolidated fee schedule to replace out-of-date code fees

Village staff explained that many fees currently are codified and have not been updated since 2008, 2012 or 2016; moving fees into a separate schedule would allow the village to adjust administrative fees annually without repeating code amendments. Staff said the planning commission had reviewed and recommended the change; the village planned a public hearing and first reading at the first May meeting to remove those fees from the code and adopt the new schedule.
Officials noted the restructure would lower some common residential permit fees (fences, sheds) while adjusting some development fees. Staff said the change is common practice in other jurisdictions and would streamline updates. Council did not take immediate final action during the work session; staff will present ordinance language, the proposed fee schedule and a public hearing date for council consideration.
