Jim Bob Scrut, a Two Rivers resident who rides Maritime Metro Transit, told the Manitowoc Common Council he would like to see bus service reach closer to Valders and for Saturday operating hours to be extended later in the day.
Scrut said the bus formerly ran near Holy Family College (now closed) and that current routing means the nearest stop to Valders is near Redline/Extra Tech Plastic, which he estimated as about 8.25 miles from Valders. He suggested one or two runs a day between Manitowoc and Valders and extending Saturday hours from the current schedule to run until 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. He described the changes as improving access for riders traveling between Manitowoc and Valders.
The mayor’s office acknowledged the comment; no staff report or council action was recorded in response during the meeting. The comment was filed under public input and the council closed the public-input period after additional previously submitted written comments were noted.
