The Audit & Control Committee amended and approved a 10-year lease agreement authorizing the county executive to sign a lease with Jamestown Rental Properties LLC for county use of the building at 95 East Chautauqua Street in Mayville (formerly Dr. Burkeoffice). The committee adopted a correction to the lease term dates before approving the measure.
Staff from Public Facilities and the county attorneyoffice explained the amended resolution corrects a typographical error in the originally submitted draft: the term should read April 1, 2025 through March 30, 2035, a full 10-year term. Kristen Wright, first assistant county attorney, pointed out the date discrepancy and a motion to amend the resolution to the correct dates passed on voice vote.
Josh Rothfeld, assistant deputy director of Public Facilities, said the leased space will relieve overcrowding in the county law department and provide more professional office space; the lease will include standard tenant responsibilities such as cleaning, snow removal and maintenance. Committee members asked questions about operating responsibilities and were told those items are spelled out in the lease.
The committee approved the amended lease authorization by voice vote.
