Lee County updates comp plan cross-references to Southwest Florida International Airport master plan

At the April 2 Lee County Zoning Hearing, staff presented CPA-2024-48, a county‑initiated comprehensive plan text amendment to update Lee Plan cross-references to the Southwest Florida International Airport master plan and applicable state statutes.
Joe Seracino of Lee County Planning told the board that the amendment updates policy 1.1.012 (as shown in the staff report) and policy 47.303 to clarify references and the board’s reporting authority. Seracino said the board previously found the amendment consistent with the Lee Plan and voted unanimously to transmit the amendment on Jan. 22, 2025. He reported that the Florida Department of Commerce, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reviewed the proposal and raised no objections. Staff recommended adoption.
Commissioners moved and seconded the item, heard no public comment, and adopted the amendment. The change primarily updates dates, master‑plan references and acronyms to ensure consistency with state law and the airport’s most recent master plan.
