County attorney outlines timeline for board rules and ethics review; committee to enter attorney-client session

The Allegany County attorney updated the Ways and Means Committee March 19 on the status of board rules and an ethics local law and policy.
"Regarding the board rules, we have a meeting scheduled on April 3. It'll be our first meeting of this year, so we will be reconvening and, hopefully, getting the board rules rolling and have those, hopefully, to you within a few months," the county attorney said, describing a timeline to present proposed rules to committee and then to the full board for approval.
On the ethics local law and policy, the county attorney said the board will consider a resolution at its next regular meeting authorizing her office to contract with outside counsel for a final review of the proposed local law and policy. "Once that resolution is approved and you authorize me to sign the letter of engagement, I will do so, and then I will reach out to the outside counsel," the county attorney said.
The committee then recessed into an attorney-client session; the county attorney said there would be no further public action when the committee reconvened. No formal votes on the rules or ethics law were taken at the March 19 meeting.
