The Allegany County Ways and Means Committee voted March 19 to accept two insurance recoveries presented by the clerk of the board.
The clerk requested a resolution to accept $8,655.14 from Nymer as a supplemental payment to cover repairs to a 2020 Kenworth truck that was damaged by fire on Nov. 27. The committee approved the resolution by voice vote.
The committee also approved acceptance of insurance proceeds related to a lightning strike at the Whitesville tower. The insurer waived the county's $5,000 deductible, and the county will recover the full repair cost of $53,200 for the county radio communications system. "We also closed out, a September or I'm sorry, Whitesville tower lightning strike claim, and they waived our $5,000 deductible, and we will recover the total cost to repair, which was 53,200," the clerk said. The committee approved that item by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
Both items were presented as resolutions and carried without recorded dissent.
