The Allegany County Budget Committee approved the minutes of its Feb. 19 meeting and received a sales tax update from County Treasurer Terry Ross at a meeting on a date not specified.
County Treasurer Terry Ross told committee members that through roughly three months of the fiscal year the county’s sales-tax receipts are running about 5% — roughly $265,000 — ahead of the same period last year. “We are still in good shape after kind of 3 months. So we’re above last year at this time by about 5% or $265,000,” Ross said. She told a committee member she would provide a two-year comparison percentage on request.
The committee approved the Feb. 19 minutes after a motion by Budget Committee member Stockton. A voice vote was taken; the transcript records members saying “Aye” and the chair declaring the motion passed. The meeting record does not include a roll-call vote tally for the minutes approval.
Roll call was taken at the start of the meeting. The transcript includes the line “2 5 present, 2 absent,” which is unclear in the record; the committee did not clarify a numeric attendance total during the discussion recorded in the transcript.
There was no other substantive business recorded in the transcript. After the sales tax update and the minutes approval the committee moved to adjourn; the motion to adjourn was made and seconded and the meeting ended.
Terry Ross’s update will be followed up with a two‑year percentage comparison she said she would provide to a committee member.
