Public‑works update: annex move, Hall of Justice projects, skylight and roof plans

Public Works staff gave a facilities update covering the annex move for the OPD office, capital and tenant-improvement projects, and building maintenance needs for county facilities.

Savannah Clement reported drywall and painting are complete in the annex and that electrical and network wiring are in place. Staff are constructing an internal secure wall and installing a door to separate the lobby from office space; carpet, a customer-service window and panel systems (formerly called cubicles) remain to be installed. Staff said they hope to complete the move within one to two weeks and suggested a target of before June 1.

On capital and tenant improvements (CIP/TI), staff said several projects are underway, many concentrated at the Hall of Justice (wall repairs, wallpaper removal, painting, new carpet). A Courthouse Square building received a new glass vestibule to improve lobby security. Staff will present ranked CIP projects and recommendations to the board in late summer ahead of budget season.

Facilities staff recommended replacing the admin‑building skylight rather than covering it; replacing a single panel alone was estimated at roughly $27,000 and replacing the full skylight package about $44,000. The skylight replacement would require multiple bids (project near procurement threshold) and scaffolding; staff also noted a separate admin roof replacement project planned for late summer/early fall.
