Parks commission to rebrand summer program as Camp 5 Oaks; council liaison reports priorities

Council liaison Council member Weil reported Tuesday that the Parks Commission discussed rebranding the city’s summer day camp to Camp 5 Oaks and reviewed last year’s camp programs and this year’s plans.
Weil said the commission surveyed parents, will continue to use Aquaport for regular swimming, and plans weekly STEM events. She described two program models used in the city: contracted camps (outside providers such as Circus Kaput and Mad Science) and the city’s in‑house program. Weil said registration would begin soon and noted subsidized lunches are available for participants who need them.
Weil also said the Parks Commission identified eight priorities for 2025 and assigned two to three commissioners to work in small groups and report back to the commission over coming months.
