Conservation commission orders immediate erosion-control plan for work at 173 Sunset Drive after turbidity observed in lake

Staff presented photos of the site and reported that work continued after the seasonal drawdown ended and lake levels rose. Staff said there was "a small amount of turbidity" observed where runoff from the driveway was reaching the corner of the wall and entering the lake.
Commissioners discussed temporary stabilization measures to limit runoff during rain events and recommended practical onsite measures such as hay bales, wattles, 6-mil sheeting, or clean stone backfill for areas where construction is paused. One commissioner said the town could ask the owner to provide a plan and to implement the plan immediately during wet-weather periods.
The conservation commission voted to request that the owner submit and implement an erosion-control plan and to maintain temporary stabilization measures through rain events until permanent stabilization is complete.
Staff said the owner has construction material on-site; commissioners asked staff to follow up and requested that the owner coordinate with staff and the owner’s engineer on a short implementation schedule.
