Committee approves tweaks to adult diploma program rule and reimbursement levels

State Senator Brianne Davis presented a house bill to make implementation adjustments to the adult diploma program created last session. Davis said the change does not increase the program’s overall spending cap; the program’s total funds were reported in committee as $750,000. The sponsor said 267 graduates from the largest provider were eligible for program payments under the current rules and that the changes clarify how providers are paid when students complete diploma requirements.
Committee members asked how the bill could show no fiscal impact given reimbursement adjustments; the sponsor said the program remains capped and payments are made only for graduating students under the pay-for-performance design. No members of the public signed up to speak against or for the bill. The committee voted to pass the bill by voice vote.
