Jackson County schedules April 22 public hearings for road designations and FY26 budget

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors on April 1 set two public hearings for April 22: one at 9 a.m. on countywide Level B and C roadway designations and a second at 10 a.m. for the fiscal year 2026 budget.

County engineering staff said the county’s road map currently identifies many routes as Level B but that formal, written documentation does not exist for all segments. The staff presentation noted Level C routes were better documented by prior resolutions, and the planned hearing will allow the public to comment on any reclassifications and on the placement of signs where current practice and mapping differ.

Separately, county staff confirmed the FY26 budget process is nearing completion; the board set a final public hearing for April 22 at 10 a.m. as the last step in the county’s budget adoption schedule.

Board action: Supervisor Ninh moved and Supervisor Mike Stannis seconded setting the Level B/C designation hearing for April 22 at 9 a.m.; the motion passed by voice vote. Ninh moved and Stannis seconded setting the FY26 budget hearing for April 22 at 10 a.m.; that motion also passed by voice vote.

County staff said the public will receive updated maps prior to the hearing so supervisors and the public can review proposed changes. Level B roads on the current map are shown in yellow; Level C roads are shown in teal/blue with white dashes, staff said.
