Senate presents citations to Choctaw High School teams; chamber adjourns until April 3

Senator Stanley presented citations on the Senate floor honoring Choctaw High School’s Yellow Jackets football team, cheerleading squad and drama and stagecraft program for recent state championships. Each citation was read into the record and presented to team members and coaches gathered in the chamber galleries.
Senator Stanley introduced the football team and cited their victory over Muskogee on Dec. 7, 2024, to win the Class 6A‑2 state championship. Coach Corbin, identified in remarks as the district coach of the year, told senators the players “epitomize the state of Oklahoma, the toughness, the resiliency, the determination” and thanked the chamber for recognition. The clerk read a citation memorializing the win and extending the Senate’s congratulations.
Later, Senator Stanley presented a citation to the Choctaw High School cheerleading team for winning the OSSAA 2024 large coed state championship; the citation text recorded the team score as 292.2. Coach Sweet thanked the Senate and described the athletes’ year‑round commitment. Senator Stanley then recognized the Choctaw High School drama and stagecraft program for winning the OSSAA Class 6A one‑act play state championship for the 2024–25 academic year; the citation credits the program’s direction to Mary Burton and notes the program’s long record of success.
Senator Gillespie and others made gallery introductions during the session; Senator Hayes announced an Appropriations Committee meeting scheduled for 2:10 p.m. in Room 535. When business concluded, a member moved that “when the clerk’s desk is cleared, the Senate stands adjourned until 9:30 a.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025.” The motion passed by voice vote and the clerk announced the adjournment date and time.
