Angels Camp discusses park reopening, tree dedications and playground safety after contractor repairs

Amy Augustine, the city staff member leading the Rural Recreation and Tourism Program update, told the council on April 1 that contractor work on the new park is nearly finished and that Boyer has agreed to redo damaged playground surfacing at its own cost.
"They have been redoing the fit lot...Boyer, at their own cost, is having it redone," Augustine said, describing recent repairs after the play surface was walked on before it had set. She said crews have applied seal coat, will stripe the amphitheater, and may hydroseed this week or early next week.
Council members and staff considered tentative dates for a grand opening and for an earlier "soft" opening so children could use the playground before a larger celebration. Augustine offered May 3, May 10 and May 31 as candidate grand-opening Saturdays; she also noted that May 17 is the fair and the fire department will use the pavilion for a pancake breakfast on the 17th.
