Ellen Mullen addressed the New Iberia City Council to preview the ninth annual Books Along the TESH Literary Festival, scheduled Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6 along Main Street and in several city venues.
Mullen said the festival will feature about 30 events in total, nine of which are paid ticketed events. Venues and activities include the Shadows on the Tesh (opening Jazz It Up reception with the Bunk Johnson brass band), the Steamboat Pavilion (Great Southern Chef seafood demonstration by Chef Celeste Gill, Fado Deux and a performance by Terry Huball’s Jambalaya Cajun Band), walking and specialty tours (bus, boat, kayak, bike), a book fair on Saturday with adult and children’s authors and Symphony Sunday in the Park to close the weekend.
Mullen asked council members to help promote the event to constituents and noted many events are free. She described the festival as cultural and multi‑disciplinary, combining music, dance and food in addition to author panels and writing workshops.
