Council awards culvert and drainage contract; mayor authorized to sign work orders

Jeff Doss presented the staff recommendation and listed the four culvert projects (F Road/Collecting Canal, Gary Lane, Folsom and 20th, and Buying Lane). He said the low bidder’s pricing for those four projects was substantially under the town’s budget, producing roughly $200,000 (staff later cited a more precise savings estimate in the $234,000–$258,000 range) in projected savings.
Jeff told the council there were nine firms at the pre-bid meeting and two responsive bids. Staff recommended awarding the continuing-services contract to Her Homes LLC and Johnson Davis Inc.; Her Homes was offered the four specific bridge work orders and Johnson Davis was made available under the schedule of values for future work.
Councilmember Phyllis moved approval; the motion was seconded and passed on a recorded voice vote, 4-0. The resolution authorizes the mayor to execute documents acceptable to the town manager and town attorney and authorizes the town manager and town attorney to implement the resolution’s intent.
Ending: Staff said the same continuing-services contract will be used to bring forward additional drainage work, including a planned May award for a set of catch basins.
