Votes at a glance: St. Tammany board approves consent agenda, construction bids and retirement resolutions

The St. Tammany Parish School Board on March 20 approved its consent agenda and a string of routine business items, including construction bids and retirement resolutions. The consent agenda passed unanimously.

Key consent items read into the record and approved included acceptance of the low base bid and Alternate No. 1 from A & A Mechanical Inc. for replacement of cafeteria and gymnasium HVAC units at Ponchartrain and Trafalgar (project P0411) in the amount of $1,252,000, and acceptance of the apparent low base bid from Donahue Construction, LLC for paving repairs (asphalt mill and overlay) at Bonnie Cole Elementary (project P0307) in the amount of $340,000. The board also recorded substantial completion recommendations for Slidell High School building renovations (project P0449) and Mandeville High School visitor restroom and concession building (project P0434).

The board approved certificated and support employee retirement resolutions read by district staff. The meeting record lists multiple retirees, their schools and years of service. A separate resolution honoring National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified educators was read and adopted unanimously; public comment noted 31 National Board‑certified teachers remain active in the district.

Board members removed two curriculum items (the high school social studies and CTE materials) from the consent agenda earlier in the meeting for separate discussion; both were later approved after discussion (see separate articles).
