Jack Demmer Ford donates $10,000 to district Family Resource Center; district recognizes spelling bee champion

Calvin Bobo, a sixth grader at Stevenson Middle School, was recognized for winning the district spelling bee on Feb. 12, 2025. District staff presented him with a certificate and a trophy.
Amanda Fonnen, supervisor of social and emotional learning, announced a $10,000 donation from Jack Demmer Ford to the district’s Family Resource Center. Fonnen said every cent of the donation will go directly to families in need and will be used to purchase toiletries, socks and underwear, school supplies, backpacks, clothing and other items requested by families. Representatives of Jack Demmer Ford — named in the presentation as Rob Demmer, Paula Hunt, Eric Priess, Richard Wolf and Chris McPeek — joined district staff at the podium to present the check.
Fonnen said the dealership has supported the Family Resource Center for about 10 years with annual school-supply drives and smaller monetary gifts; the $10,000 gift was described as an additional, surprise donation. Interim Superintendent Jen Curry joined the recognition at the dealership, Fonnen said.
Board members and staff thanked the donor representatives and congratulated Calvin Bobo on his spelling bee win.
