Resident urges Maverick County to address unstable bridge at 3220 Irindo Highway

Martinez told the court that her husband built the bridge and that they transferred ownership to the county in the 1980s. She said county maintenance had included replacing wood boards with concrete, but that county work to deepen a nearby ditch changed the waterline and left the bridge’s foundation exposed and unstable. Martinez said she has paperwork showing the county’s responsibility and asked that the county address the instability.
Martinez also said the bridge was used during a major flood to help rescue residents from Jardines Verdes. She addressed Commissioner Rios directly in the public comment and offered to provide the paperwork to county staff. The court did not record any formal action or vote on the bridge during the public meeting; the item remained a public comment and was not moved into the regular agenda for immediate action.
