Whirling said the parking lot had been paved and staff confirmed the project is about 98 percent complete, with "a few minor landscaping items" outstanding. A township staff member explained the standard process: developers deposit bond money to guarantee completion of required improvements and the township releases those funds after staff verifies the work is complete and council votes to release the bond.
Whirling also described seeing a full-size school bus at the township gas pump and, later, a half-size bus with a fuel hose inserted and children on board. A council member replied that the council would not have authority over the school district’s transportation policies and suggested Whirling contact Monarch Transportation or the school board for clarification. The council did not take any formal action on the fueling concern; the item was raised for awareness.
The council did not provide a timeline for bringing the Aquinas bond-release item onto an agenda; staff said it had been considered recently and that remaining landscaping items were minor, implying the release would be considered once the remaining work is verified.
