Committee approves strike-all to expand tax collectors’ role in motor-vehicle services

The strike-all, explained by Trumbull, keeps measures that localize title and document delivery, streamline certain driver’s license services, and ease processes for disabled parking permits while removing fines and waiting periods for applicants caught cheating on driver’s-license or commercial driver’s-license exams. Trumbull said a section requiring some CDL retesting was removed at the request of the Florida Highway Patrol because it did not align with existing operational practice.
Drew Minor of the Florida Tax Collectors Association waived in support. The committee adopted the strike-all amendment and reported CS/SB 1348 favorably.
